Hi guys,

I'm using KDE Plasma under Arch Linux and I would like to get the spell check to work with British English.

Here are the packages that I've installed:
Code: Select all
$ pacaur -Q | grep spell
aspell 0.60.6.1-5
aspell-en 2016.06.26-1
aspell-uk 1.8.0-1
gtkspell 2.0.16-3
hspell 1.3-1
hunspell 1.6.1-1
hunspell-en 2017.01.22-2
hunspell-en-us-large 2017.01.22-1
hunspell-en_AU 2017.01.22-2
hunspell-en_GB 2017.01.22-2
hunspell-en_US 2017.01.22-2

After switching the spell check setting to British English, applications e.g. Kate, Kile are able to find those words in the dictionary however they are still marked as misspelled.

Have I missed something?

Hi Frederick,

I have the same problem on my Arch setup.

It is not only affecting British English, I have the same issue with German and French. Like you described, correctly spelled words are underlined and considered as wrong, even if they are right. The spell checker then proposes the exact same string as solution... Clicking on it sometimes results in the underlining going away, sometimes not.

Maybe we missed an Arch related dependency ?

I appreciate I'm replying to a rather old thread but I can't find any posted solutions to this problem and I've found a workaround so I'll throw in my 2 cents worth in case it helps anybody.

In System Settings -> Regional Settings -> Spell Check I turned off "Enable autodetection of language" and my selected British English dictionary is now used by default..

This works for me with KDE 5.12.5 on FreeBSD 11.2
