After a recent update I have been having a little trouble with my touchscreen on a thinkpad helix. Left click touch actions do not release. For example, I have single click to open files and folders, and now tapping a file in dolphin does not open the file. Instead the file is selected and stays selected so that when I tap the screen again the file is dragged to where the second tap occurs. This makes it very hard to open files and folders. Another example, in okular I used to be able scroll by keeping my finger on the screen and dragging, now tapping on the screen brings the four-pointed cursor instead of the closed hand browse icon. This also affects the desktop, so tapping on an icon in a desktop panel, or widget, has the same problem, it gets dragged and dropped to wherever I touch the screen next.

Left click, dragging, etc. works fine with a pen.

This problem only occurs in KDE, or Qt (?), apps. So, for instance, opening files works fine in gtk apps which have their own file browser (e.g. pdfchain), or in 4pane. Touch left click works fine in ICEVM (I don't have another desktop installed to test fully). Things worked fine up until about a week or two ago, so it seems like some fairly recent update might be the cause.

OS: openSUSE Tumbleweed
Frameworks: 5.35.0
Plasma: 5.10.3
Qt: 5.9.0
Kernel: 4.11.8-1-default

A, possibly related, touchscreen problem I have is that the new screen edge touch actions do not work at all for me, perhaps something is not properly configured? I found this blog entry https://blog.martin-graesslin.com/blog/ ... -gestures/ concerning it and perhaps there is some glitch in the gesture recogniser?

I would be grateful for any help on tracking down, and hopefully helping to fix (by filing a proper bug report :) ), the problem.

First, my apologies if this is not the right part of the forum for the above question. Perhaps the kwin sub-forum might be more appropriate?

Second, are there any logs I can be checking to see what the difference is between a left click touch on a kde app and one on a gtk app?

Any news about this? Just experienced the same after upgrading to Kubuntu 17.10. Or is the discussion going on in another thread? Thanks!

Hi everyone,

Exactly the same problem for me, on Kubuntu 18.04 freshly installed on a Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 260.

Is there any solution or workaround found for that ?

Many thanks

I also started a thread on the openSUSE forums about this issue: https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread. ... wngrade-qt .

For a while I thought that the problem was qt specific, after some responses on the thread there I think the problem is with X. Unfortunately I have not had the time and opportunity to do more investigation on this issue, but the problem still persists with the latest Tumbleweed version.

Hello,

Thanks for your reply.
After reading your thread on openSUSE forum I tried a plasma session with wayland instead of X... and it works !
It's a good workaround for me at the moment.
The only problem I encounter with wayland is that the display fractional scaling isn't implemented, but it's another subject and I get to bypass this by scaling interface elements.
