I just installed kde plasma via back-ports ppa on xenial dog (full install)
No panel loaded but I could add widgets Right click easily. Then i thought of installing kubuntu{

Now the widgets Have disappeared completely except that the icon on top right has become a kind of a ckipboard manager.
