Edit: I later found out there is a "KDE Neon" board; I don't know how to move my post there, but I leave this to a moderator.
I recently bought an Asus UX550VD laptop, currently running KDE Neon. After fiddling with many details, I have managed to make pretty much everything work reasonably: TLP, optimus-enabled GPU, sound control, Intel microcode, etc. Still, a small detail is missing: Fn keys. In my laptop, Fn keys control sound (mute, increase, decrease), screen brightness (off, increase, decrease), keyboard backlight (increase, decrease), dual screen and touchpad disabling. I have managed to make all work except for screen brightness control - but I am fine with that. Problem is, after suspending and resuming back, *all* Fn keys stop working. I ran xev and acpi_listen: both confirmed that the key combinations are not being read (no change in xev/acpi_listen output following press). Changing the features managed through Fn keys is still possible (e.g. changing volume from the task bar). My /etc/default/grub is as follows:
In case it's relevant, I am using the proprietary Nvidia drivers nvidia-384, as well as bumblebee. I have tried a few other solutions (which essentially amounted to try different lines for acpi_osi ). Please let me know if further information is needed. |
