Hi,
I'd like to configure the menus in kickoff that all new users will see when they log in for the first time. Can someone please help me find the configure files that are used to create the menu categories in kickoff (i.e "Favorites", "Applications", and "Computer")? Thanks, Lisa |

Earlier: Why is Plasma so configurable and Kickoff is not - viewtopic.php?f=17&t=131914
The favorites are per-activity: https://phabricator.kde.org/D3805 |

Thanks for the pointers, but unfortunately I don't have
/usr/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.plasma.kickoff/ If it helps any, I'm running KDE v 4.14.8. If I do locate kickoff I see: /etc/kde/kickoffrc /etc/kde4/kickoffrc /usr/lib64/libkickoff.so /usr/share/kde4/apps/desktoptheme/default/dialogs/kickoff.svgz /usr/share/kde4/apps/desktoptheme/oxygen/dialogs/kickoff.svgz The top two are files I added to try to change the Favorites menu, but additions to the FavoriteURLs don't propagate through to new sessions. |

You probably know that the KDE4/Plasma4 is long past the support. There is even a plan to close the plasma 4 bug reports: https://mail.kde.org/pipermail/plasma-d ... 80663.html If you want to tinker with the KDE4/Plasma4 then the easiest way is look how the distributions were editing the defaults. The Kubuntu project has the kubuntu-default-settings: https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keyw ... ection=all . You could download the kubuntu-settings_14.04ubuntu15.tar.xz, unpack and repurpose the scripts to edit the new user default settings. The kubuntu-settings-14.04ubuntu15/desktop/share/config/homerunrc seems to have the default favorites. |

Thanks, I'll check that out. I'm on centos7 and that seems to be the most recent version of KDE that's available on that platform (at least via yum install). If there's a newer one that I'm missing somewhere, I'd be happy to do that instead.
