I performed a fresh install of Antergos (Arch) with KDE Plasma 5.12.3. My display is an Acer 4k UHD monitor (3840x2160). While setting up my workstation for use, I ran into multiple scaling issues with various components and apps that I'd like to try and solve (one by one, if necessary), including reporting bugs where needs be.
- GDK 3 (GTK3) apps don't up-scale buttons, icons, header bars or layout when I adjust the Display Scale settings in System Settings > Display and Monitor > Scale Display. - GDK 3 (GTK3) apps also don't have window resize mouse cursors when I hover over a window edge; I have to use ALT+Right-click to resize windows (GTK2 apps like GIMP and Inkscape resize just fine). - While hovering the mouse over Chromium, Firefox, Google Chrome and Thunderbird, the mouse cursor gets really small in size. When the cursor leaves those windows, the size returns to normal. (Other GTK apps like GIMP, Inkscape, Pamac software manager don't reproduce this issue.) - Apps Kate and Konsole are showing random horizontal lines in the main window (see screenshots: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1x39lNrtQcPI-2qLXgSNLBX6890LW7IoX, https://drive.google.com/open?id=1wLGO9y18lyoK7eSC_BH61yWmIjJPACrX ). Changing the display scale back to 1 from 1.7 eliminates this issue. Would appreciate some direction on how to get these issues fixed and/or which KDE products to file these bugs under in the KDE bugtracker. Thank you! My specs: Antergos (Arch) Linux KDE Plasma 5.12.3 KDE Frameworks 5.44.0 Qt 5.10.1 Xorg 1.19.6 Kernel 4.15.9-1-ARCH 2x Nvidia GTX1080 graphics cards Nvidia 390.42 proprietary driver Here are my GTK application style settings (https://drive.google.com/open?id=1OWTmhk31fV8VKY5CC5T_1MMZs1C3K03P)

Hi,
I have no issues like the one you mentioned. What I have done is: I created the following file /<homedir>/.config/plasma-workspace/env/hidpi.sh with the following content: #!/bin/bash export GDK_SCALE=2 export GDK_DPI_SCALE=0.5 export XCURSOR_SIZE=48 set it to executable, reboot and see what happens. Maybe it solves some of your issues. Good luck. Regards |

I have set HiDPI scale to 1.5, and got the same problem as you said. And when this problem occurs, maxmizing this window and then restore it, the random horizontal lines would disappear. Here is my spec: OS: Debian testing buster Kernel: x86_64 Linux 4.16.0-2-amd64 Resolution: 1920x1080 DE: KDE 5.46.0 / Plasma 5.12.5 WM: KWin CPU: Intel Core i5-8250U GPU: Intel UHD620 |

Hi there,
I do have the same issues (white lines in konsole and kate) with kubuntu 18.04 and Kubuntu-Backports. Question: How to solve or where to report? File a bug against what? konsole, kate or plasma? If infos are needed (logs, etc.) I'll deliver ![]() |

I've run into this as well. I've tried a few different things and have settled on the setup I described in viewtopic.php?f=17&t=153558#p402868
Of note, I've reset the display scaling to 1.0 and changed the font DPI to 144 (1.5 x), and that seems to have cleared up some of these issues. otoh, I think solving the problems with using display scaling would be preferred so that people can use displays with different scalings. I'm not sure which component to use on the request, perhaps kwin? At the very least filing the report under konsole or kate (or both) would probably end up getting the bug where it needs to go and fixed.

I have the same problem. I described it on forum. I'm using KDE on latest stable manjaro. A lot of bug with it and like for example can't plug second monitor on hdmi whatever I'm doing. Some people helped me but nothing worked. They told me to come tell here the problem to be solved in futur update.
