With Breeze Dark (5.16) on Kubuntu 16.04, the Dolphin file list is unreadable:
* The Details display has dark grey text on black background on every other line, making those lines unreadable * the two other views have dark grey on black making everything unreadable Suggested fixes: * Give Dolphin its own color options to override the theme, or * Adjust Breeze Dark color design to eliminate this problem I suspect Dolphin may not be using the right colors for its text and background from the theme because it seems odd that a theme would have dark grey text on a black background. So the other thing to check is whether Dolphin is using the right color variables from the theme for its text and background, or is doing something out-of-theme, like reversing one of these color codes, making it unreadable. Breeze Dark is otherwise a great theme, but as it stands, since I need Dolphin, the theme is not usable. Is there an easy way for me to change this? Does this count as filing it as a bug report, or is there another place to file it? Thanks. |

Did you try closing and reopening (all instances of) dolphin after switching to the dark theme? (sometimes it "remembers" some of the colors from the old scheme).
The list view colors are all derived from the color scheme. They are mainly defined by the View Background and Text colors, while the alternate rows are derived from the Alternate background (and text) color which you can see by editing the color scheme and selecting View Colors from the drop-down. (I would be surprised if the default Breeze Dark color scheme didn't have these all set up correctly)

I finally found a fix, from user Pyrarrows here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/linuxquestions ... ser_files/ and that fix is: This is caused by two packages - appmenu-qt and appmenu-qt5. If you're not planning on using Unity as your primary desktop, you can remove those packages. After that KDE will work properly in Ubuntu. KDE apps just won't use the global menu in Unity anymore. (I'm also typing this out so that I can remind myself how to fix this in the issue on future installs. It is very annoying.) |
