Hello!
Where do I define automatic login at boot-time? Nobody besides myself uses my laptop, and so I don't want to have to enter my password every time I boot. I installed KDE-desktop-full on top of Mint 19.1, and - after some fiddling around - I got it to work quite well. However, I cannot define auto-login for my own user. There is no item in systems settings. Do I have to install an additional package? I am using KWIN as the window manager. Thanks for any help Regards H. Stoellinger |

If you are using the Simple Desktop Display Manager (KDE default): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simple_De ... ay_Manager
and has the KDE Config Module for SDDM installed: KDE System Settings > Startup and Shutdown > Login Screen (SDDM) - advanced tab: ![]() Direct - Konsole:

Hello,
Thanks for your speedy answer! I did have SDDM installed, had changed to KWIN, however - don't remember why! I also had to install the "KDE Config Module for SDDM". Things are working o.k. now, except... I now find that certain definitions in system settings get lost across bootings. Eg., I define 4 virtual workspaces. After re-booting only ONE workspace remains defined. In addition, it looks like some "old" session contents get activated. I may have mentioned that I installed KDE-full over Linux-Mint 19.1 (removing Cinnamon before!), which - unfortunately - does not support KDE anymore. This is maybe the reason that some things "normal" to KDE don't work out of the box. I wonder what might still be missing! Should I maybe install Plasma on top of everything? Any idea would be most welcome! Thanks again for your valuable help H. Stoellinger |
