I'm looking for a shortcut to switch between monitors.

In my setup, there are two monitors. In one of them almost always terminal is open, and the second one is used for the other applications. To go from one monitor to another one, I have to bring the mouse over a window and click (this takes a lot of effort and time, and also in terminal I don't need the mouse) or use ATL+Tab which in most cases takes a few clicks.

I tried the "Switch to Next Screen" shortcut, but it did not work as I expected: it switches to the next screen only if all the windows in the current screen is minimized (i.e. the desktop is shown).

If I understand correctly, you want to use a shortcut key to move your mouse cursor over from one monitor to another. I think you could get this done by using a program like "xdotool" in a shell script, moving your mouse to a specific position on the other monitor, and configuring a shortcut key combination to trigger that script (System Settings > Shortcuts > Custom Shortcuts). Though this doesn't seem like a nice solution, very technical and not very future-proof. "xdotool" only works for X11 so you'd have to find another tool for Wayland. Maybe someone else knows of a better way to do this but this is what I could think of.

Though it may not completely fill your needs, another option is to configure shortcuts to focus on a specific window. If you right-click on the title-bar of a window, the menu has an option "More Actions" which has the entry "Window Shortcut". This allows you to configure a shortcut key combination that will focus on that window. It won't move your mouse but since that window has the focus, you can start typing in that window. This would mostly be useful when focusing a terminal window. You can make this shortcut key persistent by configuring it in the "Special Window Settings" (or "Special Application Settings"), available through that same menu below "Window Shortcut". The setting is on the tab "Arrangement & Access". at the bottom.

I got "Switch to Next Screen" shortcut to work. For further reference: to get it work, you need to check "Separate screen focus" option first from System settings → Window behavior → Window Behavior (on the left side) → Separate screen focus [1]

@arucard Also the "Window Shortcut" is cool.

Thanks.

@kukinamisha
Thanks, I was looking for the same and this worked.
Nonetheless, with newer versions of KDE Plasma you also need to uncheck the "Active screen follows mouse" option to get it to work, under the same path of settings (Window Behavior).
