Hi,
I'm using Mandriva Cooker with KDE4 4.1.80 (most of the packages updated) and I found that clicking the http link in KMail or any other application opens the webpage in KWrite. I tried to modify the File Associations in System Settings but whenever I add Konqueror to the Applications Preference Order but after pressing Apply Konqueror disappear. How to fix it?

I cannot confirm this, running yesterday's trunk. have you run KBuildSycoca? ( kbuildsycoca4 ) Also, ensure all KDE 4 related packages are updated, to me it sounds like a mimetype has been forcibly unmapped. Have a look in ~/.local/share/applications, if there is anything Konqueror related in there delete it.

I still can not add Konqueror to html filetype.
I've removed from ~/.local/share/applications: defaults.list kfmclient.desktop mimeapps.list mimeinfo.cache but no change. Trying to open webpage from KMail ends with: Could not launch the browser: Could not find service 'kfmclient'. Moreover, if I try to add new filetype I always get Kwrite and OpenOffice Writed added to the application I put to open selected file. I've created new user to check it but no change. All KDE4 packages are in 4.1.80 version.

Do you have the kfmclient package installed and up to date? you should be able to find the file /usr/share/applications/kde4/kfmclient.desktop as well, if you do have the package installed.

Mandriva package for kfmclient is under name of konqueror and yes, I do have it installed in the proper version (4.1.80).
kfmclient.desktop file is present too. If I add konqueror to the applications list in File Types editor and won't press the apply button any attempt to edit the field ends with application crash.

Ouch. Are using the latest Qt from the Cooker repositories? Even with the difference in versions being only 4.4.0 and 4.4.3 can still generate problems like crashes, instability, etc.

Yes, I use Qt 4.4.3.
So, this is the one I need to put the blame on. OK, so now I need to wait till it's fixed. I just need to remember to not click the links but copy&paste into the Konqueror. Thanks a lot.

It probably will not be Qt, given that your version is the latest in Cooker. it could be a damaged *.desktop file, or something like that. I would recommend informing the Mandriva developers of the problem, so that they can fix it.

Temporary fix is to define programs to use not default browser and put the "kfmclient openProfile webbrowsing" to be used as a file name and put the same in KDE's Default Applications.

And one more thing.
After installing Opera filetype was modified by installer (rpm) adding it to the list of applications allowed to open html file by default. But it was put on the last position, so I wanted to shift it up to the first. After pressing Apply button Opera came back to the last position and I'm back with the initial settings.

I can confirm that behaviour sometimes. It can happen with any file type, and only when a non-KDE application is involved. They either get:

Changing the distro to openSUSE 11.1 (RC1) fixed the thing with filetypes (and KMail too).
The bug at qa.mandriva.com is still open though.
