Places plasmoid killed desktop

Wed Mar 13, 2019 12:48 am
I have a up to date install of Neon of march 12
I have had the "places" plasmoid on my desktop for a very long time.

Clicked on it tonight and the desktop goes black. Compositor is still running and I have krunner set to the top screen postion so I have a little control

I need to see the desktop to remove "places" as it is killing the display. How the hell can I do it. Seriously **** off at the moment.

How can I reset the desktop to have no plasmoids. I have just a black screen now, no menu, I can log out with the power button and log in but the moment the desktop come up, it will go black.

seriously, I am in trouble here. Ias the compositer is still running, I can get to krunner and type in commands.
I tried discover and discover fires up and I can check for updates, i can type in firefox and firefox fires up so I can do some stuff, but how can I "default" the desktop to remove the damned "places" plasmoid that is rendering the desktop black?

I have edited this with more info.

If I type in Compositor, Io can get to the settings page and turn off the compositor. Using the power button, i can log out and log in. with the compositor off I have a wall paper and that is it. I do have a mouse. Beyond that I have no taskbar, no menu, no nothing. really do not want to have to re-install again
