I have no experience with Linux or KDE whatsoever, but... is it possible to customize (via script, manually or otherwise) KDE in CentOS so that it can look and feel exactly as it is in OpenSUSE? I mean the way the bar and panel look like, menus and their options, etc.?

When you start CentOS (originally installed with KDE Plasma), it shows options in the lower left corner of the screen, and you have to choose KDE Desktop, while in SUSE Leap it starts up right into the desktop itself. Besides, the "hamburger" menu at the top right corner in OpenSUSE has different options when compared to the "Desktop" menu in CentOS. It's the same with the Gecko menu.

Since I'm new to Linux I'm trying to use exactly the distro used at the company I work for (CentOS), but I really liked the user experience in OpenSUSE s KDE. Sorry if the question sounds dumb, I've tried googling it, but no luck.

It looks like CentOS is still on Plasma 4 while OpenSUSE is on Plasma 5. While most of the themes and stuff may be compatible between the two it may be a bit of a stretch to get things looking (or feeling) identically between the two. There's been a lot of polish put into Plasma 5 over the years that I doubt can be replicated in Plasma 4.

If there are specific features you would like to try and replicate feel free to ask. That said, expect answers to be pretty sparse as few people are still using Plasma 4 (mostly CentOS or other really-long-term-support distros), so you might also ask over in the CentOS forums

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction, airdrik.

It seems I'm not the only one interested in this: there is this 2 year old thread in the forum, https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=289&t=124990&start=30, and it shows no conclusive answer.

For example, would there be a way to make "Favourites" , "Applications", "Computer", "History" and "Leave" tabs on the menu to be vertical on the left side (like in OpenSUSE), instead of horizontal at the bottom, like in CentOS (or Fedora)?

There's an alternative launcher you can install for Plasma 4 called Homerun, which provides both a full-screen dashboard and a menu. https://launchpad.net/~blue-shell/+arch ... tu/homerun, https://userbase.kde.org/Homerun. CentOS may provide packages for it, in which case they may be called something similar to the packages in the launchpad page.

After you've installed it you can then replace the menu by right-clicking on the panel and selecting Add Widgets and using that panel to add the new launcher menu.

The Application Dashboard and Application Menu launchers in Plasma 5 were derived from Plasma 4's Homerun, so they should operate very similarly.
