KDE Notifications...

Fri May 10, 2019 10:44 am
Hey guys, I have a small problem with KDE Notifications...
And the problem is that if I miss some notification (eg: Discord one), I have to open Notification history to check them out.
The notification icon is not blinking or giving me any signal that there is a missed notification, which caused me to miss many of them.
This is an issue for every other app.

I'm not aware about notifications technical architecture... so I hope not being out of current subject...

I've got another problem with KDEnlive rendering notification on UbuntuStudio (XFce) and screen locked that makes rendering stop during my night! >:(
Use case:
  • user launch 1st rendering
  • user launch an other rendering
  • 1st rendering starts and 1st rendering notification is displayed
  • user locks screen and goes to bed :-)
  • 1st rendering ends and sends a notification (not displayed because screen is locked)
  • user unlocks screen
  • end of 1st rendering notification is displayed
  • start of 2nd rendering notification is displayed
>:( of course, user expected all rendering have been made during the night, and it's not the case !

Expected use case:
  • user launch 1st rendering
  • user launch an other rendering
  • 1st rendering starts and 1st rendering notification is displayed
  • user locks screen and goes to bed
  • 1st rendering ends
  • 2nd rendering starts
  • 2nd rendering ends
  • user unlocks screen
  • all rendering are done :-)
  • all notifications are displayed (or not, I don't care!)

well, that sounds more like a bug in KDEnlive waiting to start the next rendering until the user (unlocks the session and) acknowledges the notification(s) for the first rendering. If you can reproduce that behavior (using shorter rendering sessions on the order of minutes, if plausible) then you should fire off a ticket to bugs.kde.org (following kdenlive's bug submission guidelines).

Finally, KDE 5.16 supports better notifications. :P
