Hi all
I've recently started using KDE's Activities feature, along with loads of custom Window rules to auto-assign apps to certain desktops/activities. It's mostly been a great experience and I wish I would have started using Activities sooner. One thing that continues to bug me, however, is that when cycling through activities (Meta+Tab), it doesn't remember which desktop you were on last time you accessed a particular activity. For example.. in my case, Activity1 is my personal stuff and Activity2 is my environment for work. Let's say I was on Activity1:Desktop1, using Firefox. I switch to Activity2 and move over to Desktop3 to read my work calendar. When I Meta+Tab back to Activity1, it goes directly to Activity1:Desktop3. I was never using Activity1:Desktop3, so I see no good reason why it should assume that's where I want to be. Activities should remember which desktop you were last using for each individual activity. In a perfect world using my example above, pressing Meta+Tab would toggle me between Activity1:Desktop1, and Activity2:Desktop3 because those are the two virtual desktops I was actually using. Would you guys consider adding a setting to preserve the last-used virtual desktop on a per-activity basis? These activities are a really great feature.. they just have some rough edges. Thanks! |

That setting is already available: System Settings -> Desktop Behavior -> Activities -> Switching -> Remember the current virtual desktop for each activity (also accessible from the Activities panel by hitting the settings button at the very top). I recall this feature having been among several discussed at length on these forums about how to make Activities more accessible/usable. I agree that there are still some rough spots, however I've been using Activities exclusively for years (including using them in KDE 4 where they were even rougher) and am very comfortable with how they work, such that switching back to just Virtual Desktops (or any other desktop) would be a formidable challenge (but I'm okay with that because I really like KDE).
