Strange behaviour with clipboard

Thu Dec 19, 2019 8:13 am
Hello you all guys! I love KDE but i have one problem for which i registered here. Randomly my clipboard pastes things which werent copied. Also sometimes the same thing can be pasted 1 or 2 times but on second, third or more time it pastes completely different thing. I thought that this is KeepassXC problem because i use it most of the time (pasting passwords to Konsole, Asbruu etc) but sometimes i have problems with other applications.
It is hard to replicate as it happens randomly (i think).

I dont care about any features - i just want to copy/paste work reliably because at work it is VEEEERY annoying to see "wrong password" so often.

Which exact Plasma version and distribution do you use?

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

Is there any progress in this case? Have somebody looked at this issue?

So far I was unable to reproduce your issue in Kubuntu 9.10, Plasma 5.17.4

Thank you for interest. Can anybody test it on kubuntu 18.04 LTS? On some virtual machine maybe? Its very annoying and i dont know should i fiddle arround with some clipboard settings, try to replace clipboard handler or consider to entirely switch to KDE Neon?

I also have experienced clipboard acting strange, since updating from 5.17 to 5.18. Clipboard was automatically copying every text that was selected even though I have never enabled this option - maybe this is what is happening in your case? Here's what fixed it:
1. Go to clipboard settings (the same you posted in the OP)
2. Under "selection and clipboard" settings select only the first option ("ignore selection"), deselect the second and third. I also had to select "prevent empty clipboard" or else I couldn't paste anything at all. Apply settings.

Thanks man! That seems to be a bug of the recent update. Since then I wasn't able to copy and paste with CTRL+C and CTRL+V, but now with that option enabled it seems to work again.
