Windows must stay in foreground

Tue Mar 31, 2020 11:57 am
Hi All,

I have a problem with the window behavior in KDE (4.12).
It seems impossible to prevent switching between Windows (activation, bringing to foreground) via mouse pionter.
OK. When I activate a window (e.g. vi), I want to get the mouse pointer out of the way. But very often there are many other
windows in the background which then get active and in foreground when the mouse pointer is hovering over them.
This is very annoying, but I did not find a solution for this. I have tried many settings in the Window Behavior Tab in the KDE
settings, but nothing seems to work.
My favorite behavior would be to activate the window by clicking on it, but keep active and in foreground even when
hovering over other windows with the mouse pointer. Newly opened windows may be activated and put in foreground.

Is there anyone who knows how to handle this?

Regards,
Chris

KDE 4.12. really? Which exact distribution do you use to have such an outdated version?

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...
