Hi. Long time KDE user here
![]() I've got four screens in a 2x2 grid. Until recently I had the left two screens on one machine and the right two screens on another machine, connected together using synergy. On each machine I had a single task bar at the bottom of the bottom screen, with the task manager set to show windows from all screens - so the task bar on the left would show windows on the bottom left and top left screens, and the task bar on the right would show windows on the bottom right and top right screens. I now have a machine capable of driving all four screens, and there are some issues with the synergy setup, so I'm now using one machine for all four screens. However, since the task manager only has the option "show only tasks from the current screen", I can't see any way to set this up how I want. The only options available aren't great: 1. Tick "Show only tasks from the current screen" and add extra task bars to the top screens. Messy, waste of screen space. 2. Tick "Show only tasks from the current screen", and don't have any task list for the top screens. This is ok if I only have the terminals open up there, but I don't like the idea of losing windows under them and not being able to see them on a task list anywhere. 3. Untick "Show only tasks from the current screen", and have both task bars showing all windows from all four screens. This is what I'm currently using and I'm finding it very confusing. I've usually got one terminal open on the top screen on each side, and one chrome instance on the bottom on each side. Now the task bar shows two of each and I'm forever clicking the wrong one. 4. Have a single task list for all 4 screens. Probably just as confusing as option 3. I've never used activities before so I had a look at them but that doesn't seem to help here as you can't seem to have different activities on different screens. Any ideas how to achieve this? With multiple monitors becoming more common, I'd have thought this kind of this was a fairly common use case now. The most obvious solution would seem to be an option for the task manager where you can tell it specifically which screens to show tasks for, instead of just "this screen" or "all screens". Thanks. |

Which exact Plasma version is this about?
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |
