I've been wanting to mess around with Fluxbox in a different xsession, but i've found that certain things in plasmashell get in its way. For example, Fluxbox comes with its own panel and desktop setroot, but plasmashell handles those too, and so you run into a problem where they run into eachother. I'd like to run everything KDE runs at startup except for plasma-desktop, so that I can run Fluxbox in its place.
I know you can set $KDEWM in a .sh script put in autostart before the session starts, but that doesn't get rid of the panel or the setroot from plasma. I thought, "well maybe startplasma-x11 would have a way for me to change some of this stuff!" Turns out, it's a binary instead of a startup script, so that gets in the way. I want more control over the backend of things. What do? |
