Usage of xrandr

Sun Jan 24, 2021 11:32 pm
Hi all,

I would like to setup Plasma in a dual monitor setup with different DPIs under Xorg. In theory, I know how to do that: set everything to render at a higher resolution, then downscale using xrandr. So far so good. Problem is that I don't know where and when to run xrandr. I can do it after the Plasma shell has started and then replace the shell, that indeed works but is not a nice solution. If I put it into .xprofile, it seems like the shell itself resets the screen configuration at startup, overriding my xrandr setup. Maybe there is some way to inhibit the shell from doing anything with my screens, I don't know.

Thank you in advance!
