Mapping touchpad toggle key

Wed Feb 10, 2021 11:09 am
Hello, dear community,

I have a problem with mapping one of the keys on my new laptop. There is a Touchpad Toggle key in the section of "F" keys (on the F4 key specifically).
It's not working by default on my dual boot system in Fedora KDE Spin though it works in Windows as expected.
When I try to map it through System Settings --> Shortcuts / Custom Shortcuts it doesn't show up when I press it. The Prompt stays the same: "Input ...".

I've done a little research on the key events using xev tool and got 3 KeyPress and 3 KeyRelease events with 1 single key press.
xev output is the following:
Code: Select all
KeyPress event, serial 28, synthetic NO, window 0x6400001,
    root 0x7af, subw 0x0, time 993967, (146,-33), root:(146,42),
    state 0x0, keycode 37 (keysym 0xffe3, Control_L), same_screen YES,
    XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
    XmbLookupString gives 0 bytes:
    XFilterEvent returns: False

KeyPress event, serial 28, synthetic NO, window 0x6400001,
    root 0x7af, subw 0x0, time 993969, (146,-33), root:(146,42),
    state 0x4, keycode 133 (keysym 0xffeb, Super_L), same_screen YES,
    XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
    XmbLookupString gives 0 bytes:
    XFilterEvent returns: False

KeyPress event, serial 28, synthetic NO, window 0x6400001,
    root 0x7af, subw 0x0, time 993970, (146,-33), root:(146,42),
    state 0x44, keycode 93 (keysym 0x0, NoSymbol), same_screen YES,
    XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
    XmbLookupString gives 0 bytes:
    XFilterEvent returns: False

KeyRelease event, serial 28, synthetic NO, window 0x6400001,
    root 0x7af, subw 0x0, time 993972, (146,-33), root:(146,42),
    state 0x44, keycode 37 (keysym 0xffe3, Control_L), same_screen YES,
    XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
    XFilterEvent returns: False

KeyRelease event, serial 28, synthetic NO, window 0x6400001,
    root 0x7af, subw 0x0, time 993975, (146,-33), root:(146,42),
    state 0x40, keycode 133 (keysym 0xffeb, Super_L), same_screen YES,
    XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
    XFilterEvent returns: False

KeyRelease event, serial 28, synthetic NO, window 0x6400001,
    root 0x7af, subw 0x0, time 993977, (146,-33), root:(146,42),
    state 0x0, keycode 93 (keysym 0x0, NoSymbol), same_screen YES,
    XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
    XFilterEvent returns: False

Is it possible to make this key work in Linux as well?
