After all that, there it was - Dragon Player in the list of applications for inode/directory. I am not sure how it got into that file preference. I must have made a mistake when I was setting Dragon Player as the top application for various media types. It was doing a good job for me so I added a couple of file types to it. Sorry for all the confusion and thanks for all the help.
