Boy is this strange. All of a sudden, meaning I don't know what I did, when I left click on the Trash Bin I get Dragon Player invoked. The same thing happens for right click->Open. I've checked /home/USER/.local/share/Trash and both directories (files and info) there are empty. Anyone else see this? TIA

I am assuming this is the trash plasmoid. Could you please provide you plasma-appletsrc file? it can be found in ~/.kde4/share/config. Exchange .kde4 for .kde if you are using Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex.

That looks fine. What is the value of Trash[$e] in kdeglobals? ( also in ~/.kde/share/config/ )

Trash[$e]=$HOME/Desktop/Deleted Items/
This is the only entry like this in that file. There is one that shows: trash=false later in the file.

In Konqueror, does the trash:/ KIO slave show your trash folder? Also, in Dolphin, does the Trash shortcut on the places bar take you to the trash folder as well?

In both Konqueror (trash:/) and Dolphin the (shortcut) I get to the trash folder. I can see a file I put into trash. Using the plasmoid I still get Dragon Player. I hope I'm helping to narrow this down some?

Dragon Player doesn't happen to be launched when you left-click any other plasmoid (i.e. not the Trash plasmoid), does it?

What if you add a new instance of the trash plasmoid? Does it behave the same or like it should?

I did try to add a new trash plasmoid and it behaved the same way - Dragon Player. If I left click the clock the calendar shows - as expected. If I left click the attached devices plasmoid I get the devices recently plugged in window. So that appears to work. Sorry, not much help there.

The only difference appears to be that you are running 64 bit. According to the source code of the Trash can applet, it just opens the trash KIO slave. Could you please have a look at the mimetype "inode/directory" in File Associations? it should only contain Dolphin or Konqueror ( or any other installed file manager ) but not Dragon Player
