Task Switcher

Tue May 11, 2021 3:26 pm
People, I need some minor help here, my task switcher stopped working out of the blue, it seems that it doesn't hold the shortcuts anymore, at least it says that "meta+tab" and "alt+tab" are conflicting with something, but it doesn't say with what exactly. If I select "reassing" it looks okay, but when I go out and in the settings manager, the shortcuts are no longer there. I tried to see the keyboard shortcuts and there's nothing of the aledged conflict on the system.
All I know is that it was working fine until yeasterday and today: nothing. Can anyone give me a hand? This is like the third forum I try :V

If it helps as information, I just tried to make a hot corner open the task switcher and it's working!!! Only with the mouse ofc.
So the problem MUST be in the shortcut or something alike.

How about some more information about your exact Plasma version and distribution first? You will not get answers if your question is incomplete...

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

Yeah, I have no idea how to access that info on my computer, but I'll give it a try once I'm logged in the system, which btw is a Linux Garuda, Arch based.
But until then I suppose I have the latest version as it is a rolling release distro; I'll be back w/ more info.

All right didn't take that long so I'm editing this to don't flood: "KDE has been updated to version 5.21.5" says on the last release log of Spotted Eagle, 8 days ago on the Garuda forum.

Sum: Garuda Linux, Plasma 5.21.5, linux-zen as kernel, nvidia user.

FWIW: System Settings -> System Administration -> System Information. The Information can be copied to the clipboard.

When you reset a shortcut the system does tell you the application it conflicts with if it is a Plasma/KDE application, so maybe some third-party application does use it. You can search the applications simply by typing the shortcut in the search bar in the System Settings.
Did you try saving the session on logout to see if that helps keeping the reassigned shortcuts?

Let me be more clear, overnight, the shortcuts I had were simply gone, not working anymore. And now everytime I try to give it any buttons as shortcuts, it tells me it's conflicting with something (although no what), then it does look like it's assigned, but it actually doesn't hold that information as the function still doesn't work.
It couldn't be caused by any installed package because at the time I didn't install anything, nor did I run a system update command.
Besides that, I indeed had the idea that the system could still be conflicting with the same shortcuts assigned to something else, but there are no such thing appearing on my shortcuts list, or on any other software I have installed, and even if that was the case at least one of the unusuall combinations I tried to apply to the switcher should have worked.

And I'm not sure what is to save the session on log out, but as the shortcut doesn't stick even imediately after I try to apply it, I don't think it would make a difference? But I don't really understand and I'll give it a try if you can tell me how.

Also on my distro's forum, I made the same post and someone said I could try try copying default configs from /etc/skel/.config/ but I'm affraid I'm not that advanced to do it on my own and my post died on the forum without further answer, so if it gives you any more ideas on how to solve this, I'd ask you to explain what file should go where as well.
