There's a feature on current plasma that shows a small speaker besides the application that's playing any sound, when you click on that icon the sound for that application is muted.
This is a nice feature, but I had some users accidentally clicking on the mute button, and then things like videoconference don't work anymore.
Is there any way I could disable this action (or application muting altogether)

Thanks a lot

Right click on panel with icons, go to 'Configure Icons-Only Task Manager', under appearance uncheck 'Mark applications that play audio'. It will prevent showing what is playing audio, you can still disable audio on application basis by right clicking on its icon in task manager and checking Mute box.
