Hello,
Since updating my Kubuntu laptop from 20.04 to 21.10 the mouse wheel scroll that used to move me through virtual desktops is no longer working. I've tried a couple of mice. Same results. The mouse wheel scroll works fine in an application like Kate or Konsole but does nothing on the desktop. Is this a known problem? I'm not able to find the feature in System Settings so I'm not 100% it's still turned on after the update. If someone could tell me where to look that would be great. I have not yet tried deleting existing files in .config but I'm not against doing that on this machine. Thanks in advance for any help. Mark |

It should be in right click desktop> edit > mouse gestures. I'm not on kde right now, but it's there alright. But, keep in mind that a) this has been a bug on several versions b) the option doesn't work if you have a widget like, say, active window control on your panel. The mouse wheel up/down gesture hasn't worked for me since 21.04. I added a custom command https://github.com/wsdfhjxc/run-command to the available mouse possibilities to emulate a switch desktop. To no avail. But I'm using the active window widget so..

Thanks for pointing me at the right way to get to the command. I cannot make it work 21.10 either. I'm not specifically using any widgets other than setting up the virtual desktops and having the display on the lower panel.
Good thing I updated my laptop before I updated my desktop system where I really depend on this feature. Do we know if anyone is looking at the root cause of this? I guess I'll go find KDE's bugzilla. Cheers |

There was a solution in KDE Bugs. On 20.04 the desktop layout was 'Desktop'. On 21.10 it was 'Folder'. I switched to 'Desktop' and it now works fine.
Give it a try. Cheers |

Thanks, but I'm a vivid user of the active window widget and I have my stuff set up to scroll through my tasks, wherever they are. I don't use the folder option for my ..well, desktop. Cheers.

I don't know what you mean by a "vivid user" - did you mean "active user" - of the "active window manager". I'd like to understand what you are using. What is this "active window manager"? Let me know and I'll try setting it up myself.
I'm doing right click the desktop, then add widget and searching for 'active; but nothing shows up. Let me know how to find your widget and I'll try it out myself. |
