I'm running the latest Tumbleweed and joined it to Active Directory with realmd (e.g. realm join). I can successfully login to Plasma with my user@domain and it works great. There is one minor caveat, however. I get popups from the Software Updates notification service (system tray) that says "Update Error - Failed to obtain authentication". They stack up and eventually take up the entire vertical space of the screen.

I'm seeing "PackageKit[15858]: uid 99401270 failed to obtain auth" in the logs. I would have to assume the high uid value is at partially at fault, but I'm no PackageKit guru. What can I do to address the issue?

Thanks!!!!

Hi!

I have no idea about ActiveDirectory, but perhaps we can find out what the package management complies on:
Code: Select all
# get your users id
id

#show full output of updating, break on first error
sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade && sudo apt autoremove

If your user is not in the sudoers file, the administrator must perform the updates himself or give you the permission to do so.
