Hi there,
I'm looking for a workaround, and hope the community can help me find a solution to an interesting problem. Let me start by explaining my situation briefly: - I have a 4K main monitor on DisplayPort, and an old secondary monitor on DVI at 1080p. - I use the old secondary monitor for some handy info on the side, music player, etc., but do all my work on my main monitor. - Unfortunately (long story short) waking up after going to sleep, all my windows have been moved and resized to the small secondary monitor. - A fix for this is apparently on the way, but who knows how long till I see it. So, as a result I want to turn off Screen Energy Saving (so it doesn't turn off my monitors), but of course I do want to protect them by blanking the screen or running a "traditional" screensaver. Unfortunately neither of these seem to be available. Is there a way for me to do this? Some background/system info: Operating System: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20220811 KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.96.0 Qt Version: 5.15.5 Kernel Version: 5.18.15-1-default (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 12 × Intel® Core™ i7-8700K CPU @ 3.70GHz Memory: 31.3 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070/PCIe/SSE2 Monitors: - Philips BDM4350 (3840x2160) set as Primary - Ancor VE247 (1920x1080) |

Update:
With a new GPU, now I have the secondary small monitor hooked up on HDMI and my main 4K monitor on one of the 3 DisplayPort outputs. Same problem when waking up from sleep with all the windows moved over to the small aux monitor. I tried to turn it off (still plugged in) before resuming from sleep, but the behaviour is the same. No luck finding a screensaver or solving the issue remembering where the windows need to go. |
