I have 3 Fedora systems running KDE Plasma. On 2 of them kscreen works just fine.
The third system is my main workstation, which has 3 displays (2 1920x1200 displays side-by-side, with a 2560x1440 display on top in a rough "pyramid" setup). For a long time, I've used a static X.org configuration file to set the display layout. Now, however, I am trying to switch from X to Wayland on this system, and I have discovered that kscreen will not save its configuration. I.e., it never writes anything in `~/.local/share/kscreen`. I am able to set up the screens after I log in, but I have to do it every time. I've done the following to try to narrow down the problem. * Boot the system with live media (Fedora KDE ISO). kscreen does work when I do this, so I don't believe that the problem has anything to do with my hardware; it's something about the way my installed system is configured. * Test with a completely new user. This does not work (configuration is never written). This seems to indicate that the problem is related to the configuration of the system, not something about my particular user's Plasma configuration. Beyond that, though, I'm at my wits end. What is the world could cause kscreen to simply not write its configuration? Any ideas on where I can look (log files etc.) would be greatly appreciated! |
