window size and location

Thu Oct 13, 2022 5:38 pm
After installing 22.04.1 I see Kubuntu no longer remembers window positions or size on the desktop unless the application supports it. So apps like Firefox, Chrome, Thunderbird, etc. are remembered as where and how the window was positioned across my monitors. Included apps like Dolphin, Discover, Konsole do not and they always open in the default center of the desktop. This can be changed to various locations in settings, but there is no option to "remember last position" or similar. Konsole doesn't even open in a usable size (a tiny 25x4) which is barely big enough to type a single word like uptime, let alone read any output, without resizing it every single time.

Seems (K)Ubuntu has taken a step backwards in logical usability. Overall I like 22.04 but dropping the ball on a basic feature like this which has been standard in (K)Ubuntu for many versions is disappointing. Ubuntu users experience the same thing in Gnome so this might be a base package issue?
