runing konqueror as su

Wed Dec 03, 2008 12:59 pm
Hi there. I just install KDE4 with Mandriva 2009. I want to add on desktop a launcher to use konqueror as file browser.
In previous KDE it was possible with right click on desktop -> add launcher -> I chose "run as root" -> from application I wrote kdesu /

How can I do this in KDE4

Thanks

You have 2 ways:

1. Use the folderview plasmoid. With that you can work just like you did in KDE3. If you don't have it, right click on the desktop, choose "add widget" and drag folderview to the desktop.

2. right-click on the menu, open menu editor. And there make a new entry for what you like. When you are finished launch the menu again and drag and drop the new entry to an empty space on the desktop.

EDIT:
Ok, you have 3 ways ;)

OK thanks.
Look what I did. From Menu->Internet->Konqueror I drag Konq to the desktop and create a link. Then right click on Konq icon -> properties -> Application -> Advanced Options -> Run as a different user = root and OK

An error pop up:
Could not save properties. You do not have sufficient access to write to /home/user/Desktop/konqbrowser.desktop

How can I modify the properties of Konq icon?

Thanks

Open Konsole. Then run the command
Code: Select all
ls -l ~/Desktop | grep konqbrowser.desktop
Post that result here please.

KDE Sysadmin
