Krunner and Desktop Search

Thu Dec 04, 2008 6:32 pm
Hi.

Is it possible to do a simple desktop search by name in Krunner ?
For example, can I quickly find with Krunner all my local files containing the word "video" in their name ? I'm looking for the same kind of feature as MacOS X's Spotlight, and it seems Krunner is the closer answer to this.

I have searched for a precise listing of Krunner capabilities, but it seems the documentation isn't quite ready yet.

I believe there has been work on this, I'm not sure if it's a part of 4.2 or 4.3 though.

That would be the Nepomuk search runner, which uses Strigi for indexing. I do not know how well it is working at the moment, because apparently Sesame2 keeps crashing on me :-(
