I wonder if someone who is pleased with it's KDE4 performance would share the Xorg configuration and system settings comments.

Please mark the graphics card model and KDE version you are using.

Its little bit annoying that some people report perfectly behaving desktop and others complain while both have very similar hardware.

Maybe that way we will be able to minimize the configuration influence and capture the real KDE4 bugs.

KDE 4.1.3 (from Kubuntu packages), using a NVidia Geforce 8600GT with the nvidia driver 177.80.
My xorg.conf:

As you can see, I basically stayed with the default "empty" xorg.conf from Kubuntu, just added some nvidia specific stuff.
I'm not sure, what you mean with "system settings comments", so I'm just listing some facts about my desktop effects config:

• desctop effects with OpenGL-Rendering
• texture filtering: bilinear
• keep thumbnails of invisible windows up-to-date
• using several effects like transparency, wobbly windows, darkening windows, present windows, etc.

Since I updated to the current nvidia driver version, I don't experience real performance problems any more, there are only a few glimpses left.
