I like screensaver named 'EndGame' with its openGL chess action.
When I try to enter password to unlock screen, my computer hangs. Rarely, it does not. When I use this screensaver on KDE3 I hava no problems. Similar hangs were noticed by me on other openGL screensavers. But with "EndGame", computer hangs almost every unlocking.

Are you using compositing? ( KWin 3D effects, Compiz ) If you are, can you reproduce KDE locking up without using compositing?
Are these screensavers you are trying shipped by KDE?

Yes, I am. I turned off my KDE 3D effects from KDE COntrol Centre and set up the screensaver to "EndGame". The screen had been successfully unlocked for the first time but hanged on the second.
I think it is. I've installed opensuse 11.0 and upgraded it to opensuse 11.1. I use only screensavers from this distro. No additionals. And as I think this hang appears on all openGL screensavers. As I use non-openGL screensavers now, I have no problems. My hardware is HP dx7300 and its video card is Intell. I have not installed any additional drivers to my linux box.

You wouldn't happen to have a Intel X3100? ( 965GM ) I have a total graphics lockup whenever I try to use OpenGL ( Google Earth ) If you do, here is the fd.o bug report about this issue ( https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=19242 ) usually I can just press the power button and the system will gracefully shutdown. I initially filed at Novell Bugzilla and was forwarded to fd.o by them.

@pavel: Does this include more intensive applications such as Google Earth? if it doesn't freeze under KDE 3, but does under KDE 4, could you please add a comment to that effect on the bug report I linked to above? Thanks in advance.

There is an interesting fact, than differ my situation from the bug. When I test my EndGame screensaver it works with no problem. And there is no problem while the screen is locked. System hangs in the moment when the "unlock display" must arive on key press or muse movement. I've tested up to 5 minutes.

Does your caps lock key respond when you press it once it freezes? If it doesn't, then does just pressing the power button ( not holding down ) result in the system gracefully shutting down after a minute or two?
If the system gracefully shuts down, then it is a different form of the above bug. If it does not it is a total hardlock, which should be reported in the Novell Bugzilla ( it could be anywhere, probably X ) If the caps lock key responds, then try switching to a virtual terminal ( Ctrl + Alt + F2 ), logging in and executing this command:
