[SOLVED] Creating Printer Instances?

Sun Jan 04, 2009 10:30 pm
In kde3, there was a printer module in the system settings, and I could create printer "instances" by duplicating my printer and changing a few setting -- for example HP7280_Blk_draft, HP7280_Color_normal etc. I don't have a printer module in Kubuntu Intrepid (KDE4.13. Is there a way to install one? My printer works fine now, but I would like to create instances. How would I do this?

Thx

Due to KDE 4 becoming multi platform, printing support had to become completely rebased on QPrinter, which was added in Qt4. If you read the blog of the lead developer of printing ( located here ) you will discover the reasoning behind the delays at reimplementation of many of the features in KDE 4.

OK, I understand. I realize that KDE4 is a major overhaul, and printing functionality does work fine, do we'll just have to wait for it to be developed further. The issue is not really solved, but I'll mark it as such, because it can't really go any further now. Thx

There's a configuration utility for KDE 4, however I can't say how good it is as it depends on PyKDE4, and kdebindings is not compiling for me at the moment.
