Hi.
Recently, i found a great icon theme, with the Debian's logo instead of the K (from the launcher) and red folders as in this theme or in this one but i can't find it now. Are these (small) clues enough for a Columbo's user of this forum Thank's for the answer. Guillaume

For replacing the menu icon, you can launch dolphin as root from konsole by typing:
And replace the /usr/share/icons/oxygen//places/start-here-kde.png (you may need to change 32x32 and 48x48 icons). For red folders, you also have folder-red.png in the places folder. You can replace places/folder.png and mimetypes/inode-directory.png with the red folder. |

I cannot figure this out! I have replaced the start-here-kde.png icon with another image (still keeping the name start-here-kde.png) and my menu icon still remains the square K in the gear. Just to be sure I was doing it correctly, I wrote a script that copied the new image to all size (16x16, 32x32, etc.) folders. I've restarted X server, but still no cute panda icon! :'(:'(
I'm running Kubuntu 8.10. Does anyone have any ideas? I thought this would be simple... how silly was I! |

Maybe try replacing kde.png instead
KDE Sysadmin

[SOLVED for Kubuntu 8.10 KDE 4.13]
Well after changing the icon several times, restarting X windows, rebooting, without success, I finally was able to change the KDE menu icon. I was beginning to think maybe I didn't have Oxygen set as my icon theme, so I went in to check it using System Settings -> Appearance -> Icons. Sure enough, it was already set to Oxygen. Just clicking around on the screen, I happened to click on the GNOME theme, and then back on Oxygen. When I went to go back to the Overview screen, it asked me to Save my changes. I agreed, and POOF!! ... my panda showed up in place of the K for the KDE menu icon! So, it seems that the K icon was being cached somewhere, and even with restarting X, and rebooting, it didn't refresh it's cache until I reapplied the Oxygen theme within the System Settings. Hope this helps someone in the future! |
