For your KDE settings you have to copy your ~/.kde/ folder to the new system.
What error did you get? In most cases it should work well to use the old home directory in a fresh install.

Most app settings should be in ~/.kde/share/config and ~/.kde/share/apps, though you might need the whole ~/.kde/share folder.

Try just copying in the .kde directory hidden in your home directory.
This carries most of your config.

So first: the directory is called .kde4!
Do not copy over the old one .kde4 to the new one. It'll completely break your KDE - if not then it isn't changes anything, but your new .kde4 directory will be full with junk configuration files. Instead of copying and overwriting everything try to copy the configuration file - and just the configuration files for each application one-by-one. Then restart the KDE4 application. - if nothing changed try to manually edit the configuration by copying and pasting to the new application's configuration file the old settings. If you have <10 bookmarks in Konqueror then it takes shorter to bookmark the pages again then to play with configuration files. My Konqueror have at least 50 bookmarks, so I'm copied out from the old xml file the bookmarks - without the xml header, this is the difference what causes Konqueror can't read the old configuration file - and pasted it to the new one. IMHO These migration things are far away from anything what can be called migration. The only thing what can migrate without problems on my KDE4 desktop is the Firefox. ![]()
