ubuntu 8.10 with kde on top (not sure about the version installed: I remember I saw 3.5.1 or 10 somewhere a while ago but don't know where; in Synaptic most packages are '4:4.1.3-0ubuntu1~intr' but the core libraries and binaries are '4:3.5.10-0ubuntu6' version; also in 'add/remove apps' there's a warning that Kde4 is not available for i386 machines).
Celeron D 2.53 GHz, 768 MB RAM, G4 MX460-VTP 64 MB with nvidia-glx-96 driver.

I deleted the desktop panel (originally at the bottom of the screen) then when I added it again it went to the top. In Gnome if we add another one then it goes to the bottom but in Kde it just overlaps the old one at the top and I'm not able to send it to the bottom. I've seen a post in the forum about changing something in 'task manager settings' but my settings don't offer the mentioned option (I think it's something like forcing two rows). It shows only 'show tooltips', 'only show tasks from the current desktop' and 'only show tasks from the current screen' (also printscreen or alt+printscreen don't work like in Gnm, is there any other way to printscreen?). About this, I think I should wait for being able to use a newer version, right?
Something else: is there a keyboard shortcut to rotate between workspaces (in Gnome it's ctrl+alt+arrow).
Thank you.

To check KDE version, open Dolphin and see Help -> About KDE
For shifting the panel, unlock your widgets (Right click on desktop -> Unlock widgets). Now click on the panel cashew (extreme right) Image and another bar below the panel should appear. Drag the bar itself (or a "Screen Edge" entry) to change the position.

Also, KHotkeys is broken in KDE 4.1.3 -- it is already finxed since KDE 4.2 beta 2. You can upgrade to KDE 4.2 RC1 if you want to.

1. Regarding the panel, see this tutorial. Some things have changed in newer versions of KDE. If you see a "Screen Edge" button after clicking on the cashew Image, drag it to move the panel. Otherwise, drag the configuration bar that appears.

2. To take a screenshot you can use KSnapshot. On my computer Printscreen launches KSnapshot, but I think global shortcuts were broken in earlier KDE4 versions.

3. You can set the keyboard shortcuts in System Settings -> Keyboard & Mouse -> Global Keyboard Shortcuts (choose KWin as KDE Component). However, as I wrote above, there's a risk that global shortcuts are broken in your KDE version.

Thank you!
LinuxIsInnovation, my kde version is 4.1.3. Since the default file manager here is Nautilus I saw it on the general help page (I don't know if Dolphin is even available).
Hans, thank you for the tip. I resolved my question through the tutorial and really one must drag THE BAR ITSELF (I did it swinging, from top to side to bottom - and to side again since it seems better here) and not the screen edge since this would maximize the panel until it took the whole desktop.
