If this happens, have a look at Code: Select all `top` on the konsole. There you might see the process which causes the problem and also take a look at the memory in 'top', maybe your RAM is full and the computer has to swap. Is Nepomuk and Strigi activated? This could also cause a lot of load (only in KDE 4, of course). Nevertheless, please open a new thread for that.
