Hello All
I am using Kubuntu 8.10 and KDE 4.2 on a Dell Latitude D830 notebook, and I use my mouse on my left hand. However, it always reverts to a right-hand setting between sessions (and sometimes within a session) no matter how many times I reset it in the system settings, *and* when it resets itself to being right-handed the mousepad on the notebook remains set left-handed. Does anybody know how I can fix this? With grateful thanks |

With apologies, I posted in this in the wrong Forum - if anybody knows how to move it to the Desktop Environment & Window Manager Forum, I would be grateful. |

The reason behind Right / Left hand mouse setting reverting outside your KDE session is because "System Settings" ( despite its name ) configures it only for your session. Your distribution may offer instructions on how to change the system wide setting.
The reason behind it changing in your session and system settings still showing the correct setting, is because the KDE configuration file still shows the correct setting, and some other tool has reverted the change ( KDE only applies your settings on startup )

I had the same problem, tried editing the Register, didn't work (and I don't recommend trying).
Did the obvious thing, sheesh, after reading a post, reinstall the mouse drivers. Worked like a charm! |
