I searched high and low through the forums and on Google for an answer to this question but with no luck. Hopefully it hasn't already been asked though.

I've got a 3 monitor setup (2 actual monitors via DVI and 1 TV via HDMI) across 2 video cards. I was using Xinerama before but X seemed to be eating up resources rendering anything, even when I moved my mouse. Not to mention, I was really getting annoyed of opening a new program/window and only being able to guesstimate which screen it was going to be on. So I switched over to each screen being it's own X session and now I want to customize the fonts so the fonts on the TV are bigger so I don't have to stand 6" in front of it to see what I'm doing.

I looked around at the config files in ~/.kde/share/confg and found what seems to be two files of value: kdeglobals and kdesktoprc. Actually, its kdesktoprc, kdesktop-screen1-rc and kdesktop-screen2-rc. kdeglobals seems to have most of the fonts in a section like this:

font=Sans Serif,24,-1,5,50,0,0,0,0,0
menuFont=Sans Serif,24,-1,5,50,0,0,0,0,0
taskbarFont=Sans Serif,24,-1,5,50,0,0,0,0,0
toolBarFont=Sans Serif,24,-1,5,50,0,0,0,0,0

I tried adding those to the kdesktoprc files hoping I could override the values but with no luck.

the only section in the kdesktoprc files that pertains to fonts is:

[FMSettings]
StandardFont=Sans Serif,24,-1,5,50,0,0,0,0,0

and that only controls the font size of icons/text on the desktop. Close but no cigar.

Does anyone know of any way I can change the font sizes per X session or am I going to have to resort to actually messing with the libraries? Is it possible to have a kdeglobals file per X session?

I think you are going to have to mess with the libraries in this situation. You may wish to file a feature request for this issue ( however using a sensible resolution on the TV might help )

I thought about lowering the resolution on my TV but I paid a good amount of money for a 1080p HDTV and I wanna get my money's worth!
Well, I've always wanted to start being a contributor to KDE, perhaps this will get the ball rolling...
