When I attempt to install certain items, such as plasmoid-wifi via Synaptic, I get an error message saying:
plasmoid-wifi: Depends: libplasma2 but it is not going to be installed If I then attempt to install libplasma2 I get a long list of things that will be REMOVED, including: kde kde-core kubuntu-desktop kdebase kdebase-plasma kdebase-workspace and lots more. Now, it seems counterintuitive to me to REMOVE all of those KDE-related apps. Yet it's impossible to install certain items if I don't install libplasma2 first. So is it okay to let all that stuff get removed? Then what happens?! :-O Will I end up with an unusable installation?

Then you most likely have KDE4.2 running, which uses libplasma3 und replaces libplasma2. So this plasmoid seems to be made for 4.1.x

Ah ha! That makes sense. Pity, though, because there are several items I really want to install but they all yield the same error message. :'(

Sorry, maybe packages for them will be made in some time. Or, if you are comfortable with it, you could try to compile the missing parts by yourself in the meantime.
