My system never automatic suspends, I thought it was an application blocking it, but shutting down all applications, and only having deluge and conky running, and it still wont automatically suspend.
I set the suspend time to 5 minutes, and screensaver + lock to 2 and went away for 8 minutes, come back and it's still running (with screensaver lock on). How can I debug such problems? Suspend to ram from menu works fine. Checking dbus org.freedesktop.PowerManagement method CanSuspend returns true. This is on gentoo kde 4.2, qt 4.5rc1 (also fails with qt 4.4), and I've never seen powerdevil auto suspend since I installed kde. //edit, note that this is a desktop computer, and always on battery (ups).

It is possible that having the screen saver on Automatically inhibits suspend of the system. Try disabling the screensaver.

Alright, turned the screensaver off now. Not really a longterm solution for me, but atleast I can find out if that's causing it. |

Works! Thanks a lot, since that was instantly something you suspected, is this a bug that's already been fixed? Otherwise I'll report it.

Bugs can be checked and filed at bugs.kde.org. Since it exists in 4.2 however I doubt it has been fixed. Please do file a bug if you cannot find a pre-existing one.

Yeah I know, and I looked for a bug before posting here and couldn't find one, just figured it might have been fixed in svn, since your first guess was the screensaver . And I will post a bug when the bugtracker comes on, getting too many connections atm. Thanks a lot for your help |
