Hi everyone, I am running kubuntu 8.10 last night there was new upgrades including for the kernel so I installed them and now my desktop effects dont work like desktop cube and exploding windows, I checked the settings they are still marked as active and i unchecked them and rechecked them but they still dont work. I am using kde 4.2. Can anyone tell me how to fix this issue? Thanks to everyone in advance.

This is likely because your Graphics Drivers 3D component is incompatible with the new Kernel.
