Are you sure you deleted it? I have just got off the phone to someone who has the same problem & I don't believe this person is capable of deleting it! There has been lots of issues with Intrepid today with mass broken bits in KDE. One of the pc's I fixed today had kdm missing!

Hi Yes I am sure I was tring to delete all of open office because the upgrade on it didnt work but in the process I also deleted the desktop. But I know what you mean I just got this new computer and I had a very hard time upgrading to kde 4.2 in the first place. Thank you so much for your reply do you know the command to reinstall the desktop?

It would be helpful to know what you mean exactly by "deleting your desktop". Did you remove the desktop packages? Or did you have a broken configuration so your desktop would look strange?

Hi yes I removed packages using the package manager tring to get open office working after I upgrade to 3.0 but it removed some other packages that removed my desktop anyway I tried all the commands to reinstall desktop but i keep getting errors that the packages were not available i tried apt-get update but still would not find the packages. I finally broke down and reinstalled the system. I still have not upgrade openoffice yet but i have everything elese updated and installed that needs to be. I ordered tio ubuntu books so hopefully I can fix most of my problems myself. Thank you so my for your reply I really appreciate it.
