I'm under kubuntu 8.10. Since I update my KDE to 4.2.1 some file association changed and I can't put them back the way they were.
As an example : I was using amarok for playing my mp3s and it change to audacity. I went in the file association settings and I change it back to amarok. I clicked on apply and once the update was done the association went back to audacity...??? Weird |

Kubuntu have made a cock-up of migrating KDE settings from ~/.kde4 to ~/.kde. Some apps still seem to have ~/.kde4 apparently hard-coded in them, while others are using it because $KDEHOME isn't being set. I had problems with this causing my mouse cursor choices to fail to stick.
In a terminal, type
Then log out of KDE and back in again. I can't guarantee this will fix your particular problem, but it worked for my mouse cursors. |

I was able to correct the problem. I deleted the wrong entry from the file association setting and add a new one. Everything is working now.
