hi guys,
I just upgraded my distro (Mandriva 2009.0) from KDE 4.14 to 4.21. Everything runs fine, concerning KDE. Just in case, before upgrading, I removed Compiz. I did reinstall it afterwards. Now the issue is, whenever I launch Compiz, KDE desktop effects being deactivated to avoid conflicts, I get a KDE windows decoration crash. Is there a way to avoid it or should we just wait for an update on Compiz that will solve compatibility issues with KDE 4.2? Thanks for your help ps: I've posted the same post on Compiz forums, as you might consider this is a Compiz issue, on which I agree, but any tip would be welcome

OK I got the answer from the Compiz forum: core compatibility is OK with KDE 4.2 (which I actually noticed :shade:) and the rest is being packaged atm. In the meantime running Emerald is advised...Emerald hasn't been needed for quite a while now and I didn't think about it. So that should be a very good fix in the mean time...

Only kde4-window-decorator in Compiz 0.8 works in KDE 4.2, Compiz 0.7 is not compatible.

yeah I should have mentioned the Compiz version. Indeed only 0.8 is fully compatible with KDE 4.2, that is including KDE4 window decorator, but compiz 0.7 is perfectly compatible if you use Emerald instead. ps: yesterday I just misunderstood one thing, I thought I was running Compiz 0.8, shame on me (haven't run Compiz for a while ), and the released part of it worked with KDE 4.2 except win deco...and it hasn't been released in the repos at all yet.
