I'm using KDE 4.2. Dolphin show thumbnail preview for dvju, image, txt etc. but not for pdf files.
Do you know whether it is possible to fix it? |

On my KDE Trunk installation, I have thumbnails of PDF files in Dolphin.
It was likely added after KDE 4.2 was released.

It should work in 4.2.0 and up, maybe even 4.1.something although not sure on that.
Have you compiled KDE yourself? If so, you may need to have the poppler-dev packages installed if you haven't already. That's what okular needs to be compiled for pdf-support at least and I think the previewers uses the same lib. If it's not compiled by you, check if your distro hasn't compiled it in. It really should work in 4.2. Or: check if the pdf-files are too big for whatever size is set for "Maximum file size" in Dolphin->Settings->View modes->File previews.

I had the same problem. I could solve it by installing kdegraphics-strigi-plugins. After that I had an additional item for PostScript, PDF and DVI Files in the list of supported file types at Dolphin Settings > General > Previews, which I could now enable. The relevant files added by this package were:
These need ghostscript to work. (KDE 4.4.2, lucid) |
