kdeinit4 takeing all CPU

Mon May 11, 2009 8:32 am
What's kdeinit4 and why is it taking all of my CPU?
in htop the "command" says: kdeinit4: kio_http [kdeinit] http:/tmp/ksocket-primoz/klaunch

I guess it want's to do something with klaunch, but I have no idea what and why...
Also I don't know why it's doing it from /tmp...

Anyone knows what and why is this happening?

Do you use the weather plasmoid ? There was a bug that made kdeinit waste all cpu on kio-http, wich the WP uses to get info

KLaunch would be "klauncher" the process responsible for managing KIO slaves, communicating with them and the application that is using their services. It is possible a socket has damaged permissions, or that the KIO slave is encountering problems itself ( and KLauncher keeps querying its status, never getting one and trying again )

Try removing your HTTP cache, and erasing /tmp/ksocket-$USER/ outside of a KDE session.

Yes I use(ed) weather plasmoid. I just removed it. If it won't work I'll do what bcooksley said.
And when I'll dod that I'll add weather plasmoid back to "double check" if the bug continues.

I did use YaWP, but from KDEmod repos not AUR...
I might go with LCD weather station which isn't the best, but still...
