System: AMD 2x 64, Nvidia integrated video/net/what ever. OS: Mandriva 2009.1 PowerPack. System type, DESKTOP SERVER.
Problem: I have gone through every configuration option there is under KDE 4.2 in an attempt to STOP the system from shutting off the monitor every 20 minutes. All power saver options are disabled in regards to the monitor and yet, it continues to shut itself off after being idle for 20 minutes. Where and how do I disable this function in the KDE? This is a server, the monitor HAS to be up and running at all times. There are 5 programs running that display up to the minute information to a very large screen for advisor's to glance at and get updated information. It's not going to help the advisor's if the screen is dark because the KDE keeps shutting it off. PS. I already tried shutting down acpid and hald, that didn't work either. Thanks in advance. |

There are two locations for this configuration.
System Settings > Advanced > Power Management. System Settings > Display > Power Control. For Power Management, I recommend the "Presentation" setting to achieve the effect desired.
KDE Sysadmin

Make sure the "Let powerdevil manage screen powersaving" is checked in System settings/Power management when you try to change settings in that panel. Otherwise they won't have any effect

Look also at this issue:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=187210 (and comment / vote it ) There is no need to disable the whole powerdevil system, just edit the profiles as indicated in the issue.
