Hi there,
unfortunately there are several bugs around which make it difficult to configure small icons in KDE4.x/ in the Oxygen theme. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=163283 [icon size in kickoff not configurable] https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=171914 [borders to big in Oxygen them when using small icons] https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=170645 [several places in KDE do not follow small icon settings] https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=171916 [small icon size setting is not remembered in tool bars] http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=153689 [some icon size settings in systemsettings are greyed out] Now that I am actually running KDE4 as my main system they get more annoying. Unfortunately nobody seems to be working on this. So I thought there might be the possibility to solve this problems on my local installation by tweaking some config-files. Does anyone have an idea where I could start. Is the Oxygen-theme a config file, where things can be tweaked? Greetings, Markum

You could try specifying the appropriate variable name in the KDE user global configuration file.
Unfortunately I don't know what the name of this variable is. You might be able to find it after changing and individual application toolbar, and checking that apps config file.

Does anybody else know anything about this variable name. I identified something what appeared to be a config-file for oxygen. Unfortunately not readable for me.
But I found out that https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=171916 is clearly reproducible in config files and put the information on the bug in the hope that helps. Markum
